Personal Finance Friday - Crypto Currencies and Assets

Michael Denny

I had the chance to spend a couple days at a Crypto Conference this week for work. This conference had many of the CEO's and Partners of investment funds that are prominent in the industry. I have passively mentioned it before, but this an area I find fascinating.

I won't go too far into it because people's eyes may glaze over, but to put it shortly, I think this group of technologies will slowing become an essential part of everyone's lives just like the internet is now. And just like the internet, 99.9% of people using the internet don't understand all the complexity of the systems that they are using.

This post is not about investing in crypto currencies or assets it’s about letting you know that, if you care about investments or finance, you should really be paying attention to this area. Things are happening, super interesting things. It’s very, very early but the momentum is building, systems are coming together, ideas are being generated and being built. I'm tempted to try and justify that statement with examples, but I know that would end will pages of explanation which would bore most people.

Like I've said before, I've been following this all closely for 6 to 7 years now. I am (not to be immodest) pretty knowledgeable about the space, I even took an online cryptography class to understand certain aspects better :). So as we proceed into the future, and you might see this subject coming up more often (maybe in a few years), if you ever have any questions I'd be more than willing to talk your ear off about this, and explain anything that doesn't make sense to you. It is still the wild west out there and people who don't understand what is going on can easily get taken by false statements and crooked people. So buyer beware in general, but I could be resource if your interested.
